Family fun at village show

THE Caerwent Show proved to be as popular as ever this year with hundreds of people flocking to the showground to enjoy a host of community events.

The show is now in its 35th year and has become one of the most popular community festivals of the summer season. The cornerstone of the event is a huge horticultural display and the flower and vegetable presentations really drew the crowds this year.

There were also art and craft stalls and a variety of events such as dance displays, quad biking and mini football.

Trish Brook, a member of the Caerwent Village Hall Committee which organised the show, said: "It is very much a community event with people visiting from far and wide.

"This year's show was a total success and we had so many people coming up to committee members saying how much they enjoyed it and that there was such a nice atmosphere."

Around £1,000 has been raised by the Caerwent Show this year and the proceeds will go towards building a disabled access for the village hall.
