A LOCAL farmer is being sought to help supply a handful of local schools with fruit for their fruit tuck shops.
There are eight schools in Monmouthshire running the shops as part of a healthy schools project but fruit is currently being sourced from supermarkets.
Sarah Morgan, healthy schools officer for Monmouthshire County Council, said: "If we could source some of our fruit direct from local growers, we would do it tomorrow even if it meant the cost was higher.
"We recognise the importance of local sustainability and it is important that we tell our children about supporting the local economy.
"I would love to hear from any local farmers who are interested in linking up to our Fruit Tuck Shops initiative.
If you can help Sarah, call her on 01633 238170.
