Earnie lends Bulwark support

WALES and Cardiff City football star Rob Earnshaw visited Bulwark to kick-start a campaign to make local sports pitches free of dangerous litter and dog mess.

Earnshaw, who put four in the net for the Bluebirds on Saturday, launched the campaign at Thornwell Football Club, because Monmouthshire County Council is trying to tackle the issue of keeping sports pitches safe to play on.

He said: "I started out playing on local pitches similar to this one. I urge people to respect local sports facilities and make sure that they do not leave any dangerous litter lying around."

Monmouthshire is launching local campaigns to educate people about the dangers of littering sports pitches. It is also employing special wardens to confront people who allow their dogs to foul playing areas.

The authority is also now making available, free of charge, scoop-the-poop bags at their One-Stop-Shops in Abergavenny, Caldicot, Chepstow, and Monmouth.
