Caldicot surprise rivals

Caldicot 20 Ynysddu 17

Ynysddu came to Caldicot thinking that, after the way their results had been going, it was a certain three points.

And things looked to be going that way when they opened the scoring with two quick tries from sloppy tackling by the Caldicot backs.

But Caldicot's forwards got down to the job and camped for a long period in their opponents' 22, and as a reward for all their endeavours penetrated the Ynysddu line to score a well- taken try by Carl Morgan, making it 10-5 at half time.

The second half opened with Ynysddu scoring and converting, taking the score to 17-5. But Caldicot stuck to the task and forward pressure resulted in tries for 'Jabber' Yates, hoooker Brian Hussey and winger Chris.

If Caldicot had had a kicker, the margin may have been greater.

Next Saturday will be a big task, travelling to top-of-the-table Bargoed - but playing on present form, anything could happen (Bus leaves club at 12.30)
