The potential danger of a busy road junction in Chepstow is again being raised with Monmouthshire County Council.
There were two accidents at the junction of the A48 and Station Road over Christmas, Chepstow Town Council's planning committee was told.
The actions of some drivers on the junction were straight out of the madcap cartoon series Wacky Races, it was claimed.
The incidents involved visitors to the town who were turning right into Station Road, Mrs Jane Robbins told the committee.
She said: "The problem is that there are green lights on opposing lanes and people who are not familiar with the area think they have priority."
Mr Wil Oliver said that traffic often queued back on to the A48 because cars were stopped on Station Road at the pedestrian crossing.
He said the situation could be improved by moving the lights further from the junction. He also highlighted the problem of the A48 narrowing from two lanes to one in the Newport direction.
"There have been a lot of near misses there where drivers try to overtake before the road narrows," he said.
The junction had been "abysmal" since it opened in 1998, said Mr Armand Watts. "It's like something out of the Wacky Races."
