Mardy 3 RTB Ebbw Vale 2
Mardy football Club celebrated a victory over RTB Ebbw Vale at the weekend.
Leon Gilchrist was one of the Mardy goalscorers while Adam White chipped in with the other two.
There was a very good performance from defender, Greg Roberts, who was unlucky not to score with a few of his chances. Paul Hemmings also had a very good game.
Mardy are currently seventh in the Gwent Counties' first division, and cannot afford to drop their guard if they are to provide local rivals, Clydach Wasps - who are one place above them with one game in hand - with any real challenge in the remaining few months of this campaign.
Mardy boss, Gavin Butler was pleased with the outcome of the match: "The boys produced a very good team performance, all of the team played very well. We took most of our chances when we got them and that's why we won. But we still need to be that little bit more clinical in front of goal."
Mardy's next fixture sees them facing Garnlydan on Saturday. It is important Mardy take the opportunity to secure a vital three points from this fixture with Garnlydan, who are third from bottom of the division with only 13 points from as many games.
Manager, Gavin Butler is confident about this match after his men previously beat the side 8-5, but he is not complacent.
Mr Butler said: "It's obvious that they concede goals, but they score them as well. We need to stay tight at the back and clinical in front of goal."
They play away this weekend and kick off is 2:15pm.
