Gwent Central League round-up

Sebastopol and Tranch Utd are playing nip and tuck at the top of Division One. Sebastopol go back on top (with a game in hand) following their 6-3 home win over visitors Mardy, with a one point lead over Tranch.

Sebastopol took a 6-2 half-time lead, their goal scorers were James Jackson (2), Mark Mayers, Robert Surtees, Aaron Mead and Craig Williams.

Scorers for Mardy were Stuart Smith, Mike Sage and Allan Davies. Mardy are in 10th position.

Tranch Utd had no game, but will play Lower New Inn away next Saturday.

Llanarth in 3rd position played 4th placed team, Crickhowell. Both teams were on winning runs but this time Llanarth lost 4-1 at home. James Webb put Crickhowell 1-0 up from the penalty spot after Graham Mason was brought down in the box.

Early play in the second half saw Graham Mason causing problems for the Llanarth defence and on the 50th minute Llanarth was penalised for a push on Graham Mason in the area and James Webb put Crickhowell 2-0 up from the penalty spot.

Ten minutes later Crickhowell coasted to a 3-0 lead when Johnny Webb scored from a goalmouth scramble within a minute of this Graham Mason got his goal and Crickhowell's 4th, with a screamer of a shot from 30 yards.

In the 74th minute Paul Rennie scored for Llanarth. Graham Mason was Crickhowell's Man of the Match and Clive Morgan was Llanarth's. Crickhowell hold 3rd position, Llanarth drops from 3rd to 4th.

Gilwern & District kept up their winning ways with a narrow 1-0 home win over Cwmffrwdoer. The all important goal was scored in the 20th minute of the first half from a shot by Jade Kelly. Gilwern stay in 6th and Cwmffrwdoer are 7th.

The Island pitch at Usk dried out to allow Usk Town to take maximum points in a 5-2 win over Lower New Inn. Shaun Ellis put the Lower into a 1-0 lead early on. Mike Dixon put Usk Town level with a goal in the 15th minute.

Lee Watkins scored from a header to put Usk into a 2-1 lead after 22 minutes. Right on half-time Mike Dixon scored his second goal of the match and Usk Town's 3rd. Michael Dixon completed his hat trick in the 75th minute to put Usk 4-1 up, one minute later Allan Willis pulled a goal back for Lower New Inn at 4-2.

In the 85th minute Daniel Bevan scored to give Usk Town the points in a 5-2 win. Usk Town are 5th with two games in hand, Lower New Inn stay 13th.

Panteg and Clydach Wasps were all square at half time 2-2 but two more goals to the Wasps in the second half gave them maximum points in a 4-2 away win. Goal scorers for Clydach Wasps were Nick Brown (2), Kyle Cheshire and Ian Morris, for Panteg it was Tony Dronfield and Carl Bond.

Clydach Wasps hold 9th position and Panteg stay in 12th. In the P&P Pest Control Open Cup Round 2, Division One's Goytre beat Division Two's Gilwern B 2-1. Gavin Ewers and Chris Perry scored for Goytre and Chris Rees scored for Gilwern B.

In the Free Press Cup Group A, Govilon went down 2-1 at home to PILCS. The sides were level 1-1, at half time. The goal scorers for PILCS were Clinton Rogers and Nicky Tudball. The Govilon scorer was Tristran Southway.
