RESIDENTS in Mitchel Troy are calling for action over a dangerous bend on the main road through the village following another accident this week.
A Vauxhall Vectra collided with a Ford Escort on the old A40 through Mitchel Troy at 7.30am on Thursday.
A female passenger travelling in the Vectra was taken to Neville Hall Hospital, but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
Police say they are continuing with their investigations into the accident.
Local people say the bend, near the Glen Trothy Caravan Park, is fast becoming an accident blackspot.
They are calling for the speed limit to be reduced from 40mph to 30mph and for the road to be reviewed by the council's highways department and police.
Marilyn Williams, a resident of Green Acres in Mitchel Troy, said: "We live at the bottom of the road here and these accidents are happening on this bend just one after the other.
"At one point, the local council replaced the wooden barrier with a motorway barrier to stop cars ending up in the river.
"No sooner did they put these on, than a young lady had an accident and demolished the barrier.
"This is becoming an absolute rat run and no one is taking any notice of the 40mph speed limit. People are speeding along there and they are just coming a cropper every couple of months.
"In one accident, someone destroyed the sign for the bend so there is nothing even to warn traffic of the bend.
"The accidents happen so often the council cannot keep up with replacing the signs.
"It is amazing there have not been any fatalities, absolutely amazing."
