Must-win game as survival battle nears end

MONMOUTH Town play arguably their biggest game of the season this weekend against fellow strugglers Llanhilleth Athletic in a must win clash at the Monmouth Sports Ground.

Town, second off the bottom in Division Two of the Gwent County League, know how important a win is for their survival hopes.

Llanhilleth - two places above them with four more points - have a bundle of games in hand, but victory for Town would give them a massive psychological advantage over Christchurch Hamdden just one place above them.

Christchurch have a four point advantage over Town too, but have played the same number of games as their rivals.

Key to victory for Town will be a water-tight defence. As the table stands the Division Three side has the worst backline in the competition conceding 76 goals in just 21 matches - that's getting on close to an average of four goals a game.

With a full squad to select from manager Andrew Philpots and his assistant Andrew Lewis should be confident though of picking up the right result this Saturday.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
