Duo win award for Monmouth work

TWO Monmouth Police Officers have been awarded special commendation certificates for their dedication on a specific operation in the town.

The Chief Constable of Gwent, Keith Turner, presented locally based PC Eddie Roberts and PC Dai Arnold with their certificates last week in recognition with assisting the local authority remove a family from one of their property's.

The Monmouth area had been enduring the anti- social and criminal activities of a particular family for some time.

Officers worked with local agencies during a four-month period to remove the family from their local authority property and, despite operating in an environment where people where intimidated and fearful, gathered sufficient evidence for two members of the family to be convicted for serious sexual offences.

Community liaison officer PC Dai Arnold said: "Although we ended up publicly receiving the commendation, it was really a team effort.

"We were helped by a large number of community members, who despite intimidation and fears of retribution, co-operated fully with the investigation team to guarantee a significant outcome."
