Cross Ash pupils win TV show

PUPILS from Cross Ash Primary School have just beaten off competitors from all over the UK to win Class Wars, a competition organised by Children's BBC.

All Year 6 pupils were involved in competing in undertaking a number of challenges and pitting their wits in a general knowledge competition.

In the qualifying rounds they beat Raglan Primary School with a tie-break question over the length of the River Thames.

They went on to beat schools from other parts of the country en-route to the final, which was held in London.

In the final the Cross Ash pupils found that they were four nil down against a school from Cornwall.

However, with great determination and the support of their school mascot, teacher Anne Brunt dressed as a tomato, they completed the challenges and general knowledge quiz in record time gaining full marks, which resulted in them winning by 14 to 12.

The children were presented with a Concorde shaped trophy and can now look forward to a celebration party starring Sam and Mark who featured on Pop Idols.

The four children who represented the school were Sammy Dawson, Jonathan Sadler, Bethan Holbrook and Bethan Price with support from teachers Anne Brunt and Eamon Ellaway.
