Chepstow to face league leaders

CHEPSTOW RFC face a tough task when they restart their Division Four East campaign after the break for Six Nations internationals.

With Wales playing Italy on Saturday, Chepstow's next game is the following weekend at home to Bargoed, runaway leaders in the division.

Although Bargoed lead the way by 14 points, Chepstow fixture secretary John Lewis says the team is looking forward to the challenge.

"We did lost at Bargoed earlier in the season but it was a close game and we can take confidence from that," he said.

And Chepstow will have another reason to want to perform well against Bargoed as it will be the debut for the club's new kit sponsored by local Indian restaurant Mughal Spice.

"We will have home advantage and due to postponements we haven't played for a while so I hope our players will be really up for this game," Lewis added.

Chepstow currently lie in mid-table with games in hand and Lewis said they were now looking to consolidate their position in the final few games of the season.

Their cause this season has not been helped by the long term injury to skipper Andrew Morris who had an operation after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

Lewis said he was excited by the partnership being built up between outside half David Davies, who joined last season, and scrum-half Dan Thorne.

"Looking to next season, the understanding they are building up could be just what we are after."
