CHEPSTOW Town can take a huge step towards safety on Saturday when they play one of their main relegation rivals.
Town, currently one off the bottom of the Welsh League Division Three, have a home clash with Fields Park Pontllanfraith in a game described by assistant manager Wayne Samuels as a "six-pointer".
"Every game is important now but a win on Saturday could do us a lot of favours. Quite simply it is a game we have to win and I am confident we can do it," he told the Free Press.
Earlier in the season, Chepstow lost 2-0 at Pontllanfraith but Samuels is looking for revenge.
"We lost 2-0 but we only had ourselves to blame. We played poorly and conceded cheap goals. If we play to our potential, I believe we can win this weekend. "The players know how important the game is and although we have talked about the prospect of relegation we are trying to stay positive."
Pontllanfraith are currently three places above Chepstow at the wrong end of the table but a win for Chepstow on Saturday will see them leapfrog their rivals on goal difference.
