THE Gill Cup semi finals were at last played and there was no surprise who won the Portskewett v Undy Atheltic B clash as Undy claimed their third Division One scalp of the campaign.
They had to fight for the result though eventually winning 5-4 on penalties after it finished 4-4 after extra time.
Long standing servant Bill Blackaby bagged a rare brace with Joe Rees and George Jones sharing the other two Undy goals.
The other semi final encounter between Thornwell Burnt Barn and Tintern Abbey was closer than the result suggests.
Tintern eventually came out on top winning 4-1 with goals from brothers Stuart and Ben Mackie and a Rory Prettyjohn brace.
Thornwell's deadly striker Kenny Vidmar had been kept well at bay throughout most of the game though his well struck penalty had given them hoep early in the second half pulling them back to 2-1. Tintern though were good for their win.
In Division One with Tintern involved in cup action Underwood returned to the top of the league with a 5-0 away win at Undy Athletic B, Bowen Jones, Richard Snell and Dean Powell amongst their scorers.
Young Maggs the Underwood keeper secured another clean sheet with some fine saves.
Sudbrook Cricket Club went third with a 6-2 home win over neighbours Tippling Philosopher. Rob Thorn and Rory Aldritt scored a hat trick each for the Cricket Club, Scott Millinship and Andy Doyle the goals for Tippling.
Caldicot Town's climb up the table continued with a 3-0 win away at Chepstow Town, Daniel Rowberry, Lee Jeremiah and Gareth Huntley the scorers.
Asda proved too strong for bottom club Cross Hop. Even with goals from Chris Bryant and Darren Cook Cross still managed to concede seven.
In Division Two Underwood B took advantage of Thornwell's cup tie beating Caldicot Castle 3-2 to go back to top of the division. Mike Lambert and Martyn Williams got the goals for Castle.
Chepstow Athletic moved up to second with a 2-1 win away at neighbours Marthern Wanderers. Dan Windos got Mathern's only goal.
Sudbrook Cricket Club B pushed aside a weak Portskewett B side 5-0 with braces from Daryl Cann and Mat Brown and a Ron Atkins strike.
Finally, Bulwark won the bottom of the table clash against Castle B 5-0. Dan O'Regan netted a brace, while Ian Szmalick, Adrian James and Steve White got the rest.
