PUPILS from Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls celebrated the formal opening of their all weather sports pitch with a special lacrosse tournament.
The new state-of-the-art astro turf playing surface is one of the largest all weather playing pitches in the country and measures 110 x 64 metres.
Adding colour to the opening event, an army of cheerleaders and their pom poms helping the teams compete in the inter-house lacrosse tournament.
The girls played in top gear in front of The Master of the Haberdashers' Company Julien Prevett, HMSG Headmistress Dr Brenda Despontin and a deputation from the company of Haberdashers who watched the teams battle it out on the school's latest major investment.
The sun may have shone but for the players they faced harsh weather conditions with a very strong wind - proving that the pitch really was 'all-weather'!
The new pitch will enable teams to enjoy a better and more accurate playing area. The facility will enable all year round training and competition in sports such as lacrosse, hockey and athletics.
