Risca 1 Goytre 0
GOYTRE chairman and former manager Paul Greenhalgh said the club was mightily disappointed to have lost against Risca on Saturday after dominating for so long on the field.
Risca's only real shot on goal late in the second half stole all the points as Goytre's unbeaten run came to a reluctant end. Greenhalgh though admitted there was nothing more his side could have done.
"I don't think we have dominated a game so much and got anything out of it. We are all gutted with the result because for most of the game we were camped in their half. We just couldn't get the goals," he said.
Kevin Wallace on loan from Cwmbran Town had the Plough Road side's best chance when his shot smashed off the bar. The Welsh League side also had a penalty appeal turned down by the referee who didn't feel Paul Grills had been brought down unfairly in the box.
The club will need to quash the memories of the defeat quickly though with a must win game against relegation doomed Rhondda tonight at Plough Road.
"We are looking for all three points," said Greenhalgh of the game. "It's our first game against them this season, but in their position we have to pick up all the points.
"We are the higher placed team and our position is sound in the table so we have to make that tell on the field," he said.
Tonight's game kicks off at 6.15pm.
