Free Press wins prestigious award

THE Abergavenny Free Press won a top industry award for its circulation performance this week.

At the Newspaper Society's Newspaper Sales and Promotions Awards on Monday night, the paper picked up the title of best performing newspaper for sales of less than 5,000.

Its increase of more than 21 per cent during 2003 was second only across the UK to the Derry News which won the overall weekly prize with a circulation increase of 22.62 per cent.

Editor Andy Sambidge said: "This is fantastic news and shows that our relaunch in March 2003 went down well with readers."
