East Gwent League round-up

Division One Mid-week: Caldicot Town and Monmouth Town did the impossible.

They defeated the top two teams Underwood and Tintern Abbey respectively. Caldicot's goals were turned in by Brendan Williams and Peter Little, Richard Snell scored Underwood's sole goal.

Monmouth scorers were Mark Turley, Ricky Prosser and a brace from Ross Kennedy in their 4-2 win.

Sudbrook C/C A had to thank Rob Thorn for his brace in the 2-1 home win over Asda. Andy Lane scored Asda's goal.

Saturday saw Underwood return to winning ways with an easy 10-0 win over Tippling Philosopher. James McManus (3), Dean Powell (2) among their scorers.

Caldicot Town moved into third spot with a 4-1 away win at Cross Hop, Brendan Williams, Ray Jeremiah, Jon Mayo and Gareth Huntely for Caldicot and Gareth Leatherland the Cross Hop scorer. Asda impressed manager Dave James with a 3-1 home win against Monmouth Town Andy Jameson, Andy Vaughan and man of the match Rob Mananga the Asda scorers.

Sudbrook C/C drew 3-3 with neighbours Portskewett A. John Mullins (2) and Rob Thorn the Cricket Club scorers.

Division Two. Mid-week: Castle A inflicted a rare 3-1 defeat on title chasing Thornwell B/Barn. Anthony Robbins, Warren Jones and Jamie Lawrence the Castle scorers.

Sudbrook C/C B drew 3-3 with Portskewett B, Mark Harris, Ian Bolas and an own goal for Sudbrook whilst Gary Hill, Steven Lovell and Andy Jones replied for Portskewett.

Saturday saw one of the two big encounters between Chepstow Athletic and Thornwell B/Barn over the next fortnight 3-3 draw this time Carl Bailey, Gareth Thomas and an own goal contributed toward Chepstow Athletic's tally.

Castle A's recent good form continued with a 6-0 win at Bulwark. Warren Jones (2), Anthony Robbins, Paul Schofield and a rare Richard Beech goal the Castle scorers.

Monmouth B secured a useful 3-2 home win over Sudbrook C/C B Craig Lewis (2) and Paul James their scorers. Finally Mathern Wanderers won the bottom of the table clash at Castle B 4-1 with goals from Danny Windos (2), Luke Edwards and veteran Paul Kelly.

Local Geordie hero Mike Adamson grabbed Castle B's only reply.
