Sebastopol have completed one of the greatest ever seasons in the club's proud history by winning the Gwent Central League's Division One title and with it promotion to the Gwent County FA League.
At the start of the week Sebastopol had three games to play during the week.
Monday away to Goytre, Wednesday at home to Llanarth FC and on Saturday away to Tranch Utd FC. To make certain of the title Sebastopol had to secure two points from the three games.
At Goytre on Monday evening Sebastopol went down 1-0 to the home side. The Goytre winner came from Darren Haines from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute. Goytre had missed an earlier penalty by Gavin Powell in the 30th minute. Goytre had Darren Wallace sent off in the 82nd minute.
Sebastopol just had to get the points from their home game with Llanarth on Wednesday. This they did by winning the match 6-1.
Robert Surtees fired Sebastopol into a 1-0 lead from a shot after fifteen minutes, which was the half time score. Paul Detheridge put Llanarth back on level terms with an early second half goal.
On Saturday Sebastopol had to play Tranch Utd away, with Tranch and Llanarth battling it out for the runner up spot.
Llanarth were playing away to Usk Town on the Island, with Usk Town another team going for the runner up spot. Tranch Utd and Sebastopol finished up all square at 2-2. Sebastopol led 2-1 at half time. Goal scorers for Tranch Utd were Mark Walker and Andrew Hayes, goal scorers for Sebastopol were Chris Phelps and Robert Surtees. Andrew Hayes was Tranch man of the match and Chris Phelps was Sebastopol's.
New Inn and Sebastopol B brought down the final curtain in Division Two. The result went to New Inn who beat Sebastopol B 5-3. Goal scorers for New Inn were Barry Evans (2), Jeff Tozer (2) and Scott Connell. Goal scorers for Sebastopol B were Ian Mruk (2) and Alex Hughes.
Prescoed won Division Two and Blaenavon Blues were runners up. The Blues and New Inn finished up on the same number of points, but the Blues had a plus 64 better goal difference, New Inn finished third and Govilon fourth.
