Cane and Able

IT'S time to find that special gift. But the problem is, where to go? The answer lies at Cwmbran town centre's own curiosity and gift shop, Cane and Able, in The Parade.

Take time out to relax and spend a few moments eyeing up the hundreds of simple and luxury items on show. There are beautiful candleholders and the candlesticks that go with them. A huge range of collectable vases, picture frames and beautiful imitation flowers.

And in the shop's glass cases, particularly for those with the time to ponder, are those extra special gifts, little knick-knacks that mean so much to many people. For owners Lawrence and Meryl Evans this shop is their joy.

Lawrence, who moved from being a photographer to organising cane-furniture parties with his wife, said the couple had almost drifted into the gift side of the business.

"We moved to the town centre and the cane furniture side just took up too much room, so we concentrated on gifts and other collectables. It has been really successful and it is such a good spot here."
