AN apartment within the historic Hendre Estate, home of famous local aristocrat Charles Rolls, is up for sale.
The newly-renovated property called The Loft takes up one wing of the beautiful Llangattock Manor near The Rolls of Monmouth golf club.
The Hendre Estate lies in an area of open countryside just west of Monmouth and was the county seat of the Rolls family and the Lords Llangattock.
The estate was the birthplace of Charles Stewart Rolls, who gained fame for his motoring and aviation achievements and the creation of the Rolls-Royce motoring company.
The sale of the property comes in the same month as Rolls-Royce enthusiasts celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the meeting of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce at the Midlands Hotel on May 4, 1904.
The pair laid the foundation for possibly the greatest engineering company in the world.
The Loft House is a large property with sweeping views and overlooks the final resting place of Charles Rolls.
The Loft House is up for sale with Roscoe Rogers and Knight with a price tag of £250,000.
The estate agent said: "The Loft House, as the name suggests, occupies the upper floor of the west wing and comprises master bedroom with ensuite, a second double bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and fully-fitted kitchen.
"This property holds the freehold for the west wing and includes the spacious cellars, which arebelieved to date back to medieval times."
