THE final game of this season's East Gwent League championship saw Caldicot Castle B end a disappointing season on a small high with a 3-2 home win over derby rivals Sudbrook Cricket Club B.
A fine brace from Simon Woodfield and a cracking effort from Richard Coles guided Castle to only their fourth win of the season leaving them only above Tintern Abbey B who pulled out of the league earlier in the season.
Underwood are Division One Champions after losing only two games in the entire campaign. The East Gwent title winners took the trophy comfortably in the end five points ahead of second place Tintern Abbey.
Cross Hop finished bottom of Division One with only a draw from 20 games to take any sort of consolation from. The club conceded 131 goals scoring just 16.
Thornwell Burnt Barn picked up their first trophy of the century winning the Division Two championship in a close title race with Underwood B and Chepstow Athletic.
A single point decided it in the end with Thornwell 40 points from 20 games enough to bag them the trophy.
