Sun out for junior football tourney

The crowds came out as did the sun last weekend to witness the first Raglan Ford Shield Mini Football Tournament.

Usk, Goytre, Monmouth and hosts Raglan participated in some fantastic football that thoroughly entertained the appreciative support

All the games were very close and it took until the last games to decide the winners.

Nigel and Angela Watkins of Raglan Ford presented all the players with a medal, and then presented the Raglan Ford Shield to Usk under 7's and Raglan Under 9's capping off a fabulous year for them.

There was also a golden boot presented to the top goal scorer, Oli Hazeldean (8 goals) Usk Under 7's.

For the Under 9's, Jordan Boxhall-James (Usk), Joe Allen and Chris Williamson (both Raglan) shared the prize with 2 goals each.

The whole day was a great success, it would not have been so, was it not for the great efforts of the parents and guardians of these clubs,.especially those at Raglan who worked hard behind the scenes to make it work on the day, many thanks for all your hard work, said Paul Goncalves.
