PLANS are afoot to improve the ranking of the Chepstow International Horse Trials from its current one star rating after the huge success of this year's event at Chepstow Racecourse over the weekend.
500 horses from as far away as Australia and France took part in the four-day competition that included some of world riding's brightest young jockeys.
Britain's Holly Wilks won the prestigious three-day international competition after a breathtaking ride over the cross-country course designed by local champion-jockey Eric Winter from Chepstow.
Other events there included show jumping and dressage.
Organiser of the 27th Chepstow International Horse Trials Hannah Matthews said: "This year's event was the biggest ever and a great success. Because of the sun we had a massive attendance which was very pleasing to see."
