Caldicot gets carnival fever

CALDICOT Carnival is always a successful date for the calender - and Bank Holiday was no exception.

Crowds of people lined the streets to watch the carnival procession travel from Woodstock Park in to the castle.

The community pulled together with displays of singing, dancing and martial arts and fun was had by all.

The event also attracted many families from outside of the area to join in the days entertainment which included a huge funfair.

By the afternoon, however, the rain stopped play and by about 3.30pm many stall holders had begun to pack up. By this time most people had, had such a great time, the weather did not dampen their spirits.

Councillor David Evans said: "Despite the rain in the afternoon, the day went very well. It was very well attended and there was an excellent turn out of people watching a lovely procession with the carnival queen."
