New store opens

WAITROSE opens its new store at Llanfoist on Thursday, July 15.

The Safeway store will close its doors to customers a week next Saturday for a complete refit by Waitrose, and staff will be training during the closure.

Gill Smith, for Waitrose, said 98 percent of Safeway staff had opted to work for Waitrose and become partners in the company, and they welcomed them on board.

Waitrose opening hours will be 8.30am-8pm, Monday to Thursday and on Saturdays, open until 9pm on Fridays and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays. The petrol station will also be refitted, but will open earlier than the store - on Tuesday, July 6.

Waitrose bought the Safeway store from Morrisons who took over the Safeway company but were not allowed to trade in 19 of the stores.
