SOUTH Wales Premiership side Usk made Penarth regret opting to bat after winning the toss with a destructive display of bowling power seeing them off for just 174 runs.
Opener Mark Tamplin led their assault with the bat in hand scoring a mighty 69 not out as Usk eased to 175/3 to deservedly win the match.
Chepstow's season just gets worse with every game. They still haven't won despite the inclusion of ex-Glamorgan hero Adrian Dale to the squad.
Against Newport on Saturday they had chances, but failed to take them. After Newport posted a solid score of 275 all out Chepstow looked like they were on to net their first win of the season as Dale roared to a score of 85 before being bowled out.
Rather than building on his efforts, though, Chepstow eventually slumped to a 252-9 defeat leaving them with a mountain to climb if they are to salvage their season.
Sudbrook player-coach Mark O'Leary has sent a rallying cry to his men ahead of this weekend's game against Sully saying: "We can challenge for the title if we keep playing like we are."
An up-beat O'Leary was on cloud nine after helping his team-mates pick up their third win on the bounce toppling high flying St Fagans in devastating style at the Deepweir Ground by nine wickets.
Sudbrook's batters are on fire at the moment and O'Leary will be keen for them to maintain their blistering form. In their last two games the 2001 Premiership champions have smashed 330 runs for just one wicket.
Against St Fagans who were brushed aside for just 176/7 Sudbrook eased to a convincing victory thanks to batsmen Chris Archer 78 not out and Rob Vokes 86 not out.
Centuries from David Teague and Rob Prewett helped table-topping Monmouth to an emphatic 86-run home win over Llandrindod Wells in the Flint & Cook Marches League Division 1 on Saturday.
Teague struck 126 and Prewett made an unbeaten 101 as the reigning league champions rattled up a daunting 253/5 from 45 overs at the Sports Ground.
