MORE than £1,100 was raised for school equipment at a fun packed summer fete at Thornwell school at the weekend.
The money was gathered during a array of activity which included a bouncy castle, book and toy stalls and beat the goalie - which proved to be a big hit with the older boys and dads.
One of the star attractions for the youngsters was Linda Davies, head teacher at Thornwell school, who put her neck on the line when she placed her head in the stocks for the children to pay to throw wet sponges at her.
She said: "The children had a great time, throwing sponges at me, saying it was their revenge - it was all in good fun.
"The fete was a great opportunity to open the school to the community. I was very pleased to see so many people whose children do not attend the school, come and support us."
The funds collected will go towards two new library areas, part of the school's drive to add more facilities
