A chance to shape the future

WHAT sort of community would you like to live and work in by 2019? Well, a new partnership forum has been setting out it's vision for Monmouthshire in 15 years time.

Members of the Monmouthshire Local Strategic Partnership recently met at Monmouth Leisure Centre to discuss how they could make the county a better place to live now and in the future.

The partnership is made up of local agencies and groups and the aim of the first exercise was to generate ideas about the kind of place Monmouthshire would be in 15 years' time.

A spokesperson for the Partnership said: "Our vision is that by 2019 Monmouthshire will be a happy, developing, prosperous, just, caring, healthy and tolerant community."

Their vision for Monmouthshire would be a place where: l All community members are engaged, valued and take an active role in the future of the community;

l The talents within the community are nurtured for the benefit of all;

l All community members have full and equal access to a comprehensive, first class range of services which they have confidence in. Where appropriate, these services are delivered through effective partnerships;

l People live without fear of crime in their communities where anti-social behaviour is not tolerated;

l There is a vibrant, prosperous economy that encourages buyers to invest in the area and people to move here;

l We have a clean, valued and sustainable environment that all people take responsibility for maintaining. What do you think of this vision? Is it what you want Monmouthshire to be like by 2019?
