THE finishing touches have been put towards this year's Monmouth Festival line up.
The nine-day event begins on Friday July 30 with Monmouth based band The Mighty Pledge and Two Tone legend The Selecter.
Saturday July 31 sees a locally based rock band, The Bitchpups taking to the stage in Agincourt Square who perform their own material and the evening is topped by Eddie and The Hot Rods, who had a top ten hit with Do Anything You Wanna Do in the 70s.
The festival family fun day takes place on Sunday August 1 and the return of the Kymin Dash. Various activities and acts will be available around Agincourt Square and Church Street and only for the second year running the musical entertainment continues into the evening with John Otway.
The Battle of the Bands contest takes place on Monday August 2 and topping the bill will be Adequate 7.
The festival continues with a Blues night on Tuesday and the square will reverberate to the Latin beat on Thursday.
Wednesday August 5 sees a psychedelic show from Pretty Grim and the best in Rockabilly from The Jets.
On Friday August 6 a jump jive orchestra known as the Dr Teeth Big Band will be performing hits from the swing era and will be supported by Jebo.
The festival comes to a climax on the August 7 with The Dictionary of Soul supported by The lovely Jubblees and the winners from the Battle of the Bands Competition.
A number of fringe events will also be taking place around the town during the nine days of the festival.
