Nik Elsmore and Cliff Simmons brought their Mitsubishi Lancer home eleventh overall and first in the Mitsubishi Evo Challenge round on last weekend's Swansea Bay Rally.
This result puts them fourth overall in the Championship with two rounds to go. Iestyn ap Dafydd co drove Pete Johnston to tenth overall and third in class on the latest round of the Peugeot 205 Challenge.
A very eventful day saw exhaust problems on stage one, becoming stuck in a ditch on stage two for two minutes and driving the Walters Arena stage with no brakes when a brake pipe ripped out.
Having no brakes on this stage saw them ten seconds off the fastest stage time set. Iestyn estimated that the problems dropped them about six places and they were relieved to get to the finish.
A last minute entry saw Paul Spooner sit next to West Walian Julian Reynolds in a Skoda Octavia WRC. The car arrived at the start just before the event was under way and it was the first time the crew had sat in the car.Despite this they set a twenty first fastest time on the opening stage Resolven when the turbo charger cried enough and forced them into retirement.
