Skennie show good pre-season form

Pre-season friendly Skenfrith United 1 Weston 0

SKENFRITH United manager Paul Brown says he is delighted with his side's pre-season form ahead of next month's Herefordshire League kick off.

A brilliant strike from United front man Darren Bontej sealed last Thursday's terrific result against Premiership outfit Weston.

Brown is hoping the win is a sign of things to come as he looks ahead at a tough season in Division Two.

"We had been training very well up until the game doing some good tactical sessions and that really seemed to pay off," said Brown.

United play Orcop Juniors on Thursday in their second pre-season game. The club is managed by ex-Skennie boss Mike Hamiss so they'll be plenty off fire on the field.

"It will be a good test for us and one we will want to win," said Brown.

Thursday's match kicks off at 6.30pm at Skenfrith. The club open's its league campaign against Hereford Civil Service on September 4 at home.
