Brockweir fun day

A GREAT day was had by all who attended the Brockweir and Hewelsfield community village shop Fun Day last Saturday.

The shop, staffed by volunteers, has been open for four months and is run as a community project.

The fun day also gave locals and visitors to the facility the opportunity to see what activities and services are available on the site.

Newly introduced to the shop is Gloucestershire library service's provision of DVDs and videos which are available to hire.

The day's refreshments included a barbeque, which featured food from the local suppliers, wine tasting and locally-made apple juice and cider.

Organiser for the day's event, Anne Chard, said: "It was a very successful community event, which brought in a lot of people who were interested in the village shop.

"The shop is based in a community field, so this really was a great community event."

Also available to hire at the shop are library books, as well as a computer suite upstairs where computer courses are run.
