A MONMOUTH builder has turned his hand to writing a novel.
David Hancocks, has been studying for many years the formation of Wales after the Roman period.
This enjoyable hobby has now evolved into producing a book using his study material as the backdrop for its intricate story lines.
It is Mr Hancocks first publication and has been printed by the major Welsh publisher, Y Lolfa of Talybont.
The book is set in fifth century Gwent, and particularly the Monnow Valley, the story revolves around the adventures and hardships of a young Celtic priest, Cunval, whose mission is to try and convert and educate a pagan community.
It has already been favourably reviewed on S4C TV, and it has had some good feedback from young teens and adults.
David is hoping that the novel will reach the large North American Welsh community.
Based on real historical people, Cunval's Mission is now available in local bookshops at £5.95.
