Sun shines down at Cross Ash Show

ORGANISERS of this year's Cross Ash Show had feared the worst after so much wet weather around the country during the previous days.

But they say the sun shines on the righteous, well the committee of Cross Ash Village Hall must be very righteous for the sun to shine on their village event at the weekend.

The show was opened by Miss Cross Ash, Laura Webb, and Master Cross Ash, Joel Jones and was well attended by visitors who enjoyed the many games on offer including bale tossing, skittles, greasy pole, bouncy castle, crockery smash.

There were pony and trap rides for the children and a display of vintage tractors and the ever popular water chute competition, which was won by Marion Roberts.

Inside the village hall was displayed the horticultural prowess of the exhibitors along with the baking, handicrafts and photography, of adults and children.

The two cups for vegetables and flowers were won by Wilf Mayo, the fruit classes by Roy Thomas, the baking by Mary Thomas, photography by Peter Buchanan, and the farmers cup by E J Westoby and sons. The five to nine years children's cup was won by Oliver Turner and the ten to 16 years by Angharad Williams.
