MARDY FC aim to be the first team to take any points off league leaders Clydach Wasps when they meet in Gwent County League Division One on Saturday.
Both teams have started the season well but the Wasps currently have maximum points from their five games while Mardy sit third in the table with just one defeat.
"It's a huge game for both teams and it will be tough. You don't win your first five games unless you're playing very well," said Mardy coach Gavin Butler.
"But we're playing well ourselves and last Saturday's win over Cwmbran Celtic was probably our best so far this campaign."
Mardy beat pre-season title favourites Cwmbran 3-1 with goals from Craig Salmons, Leon Gilchrist and Paul Hemmings.
Butler was particularly pleased with the result after Mardy had lost their first game of the season just four days earlier at Blaenavon.
"That was very disappointing. We went there expecting to do well but the players just didn't perform. I think they knew that and they had plenty to prove on Saturday."
Mardy lost to Blaenavon Blues 4-1 with Mardy's consolation goal coming from winger Jamie Laurent.
