Success story for your Free Press

THE circulation success story of the Free Press Series continues.

Latest figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) show that the Series has increased its sales by more than nine per cent over the past year.

Combined figures for the Pontypool Free Press, Chepstow Free Press, Monmouth Free Press and Abergavenny Free Press averaged 13,283 for January to June this year, a rise of 9.4 percent on the same period in 2003.

Our Monmouth paper was most successful with a whopping 18 percent rise, making it the second fastest growing newspaper in the UK.

Hot on its heels is the Abergavenny Free Press in third place in the UK table with a 16.1 per cent increase.

The Chepstow Free Press increased its sale by nearly ten percent while the Pontypool paper showed a rise of more than four percent.

Meanwhile, the Free Press web sites - www.thisispontypool.co.uk and www.thisismonmouthshire.co.uk - continue to prove popular with our readers.

Latest figures show that more than 2,000 unique users logged on to our Monmouthshire site while almost 1,900 unique users tried out our Pontypool site.

Editor Andy Sambidge said: "The latest ABC figures are very encouraging and come on the back on big increases over the past two years.

"We are delighted that more and more readers are turning to the Free Press for their local news and we aim to further improve the papers in the future."
