School launches its own calendar

AS PUPILS of Monmouth Comprehensive School return after their summer break they will find that a new initiate has taken place.

The school has launched its own calendar and the innovative format covers the forthcoming academic year, from September 2004 to August 2005, and features the diverse activities that students can experience when Learning to Lead their Lives - the school motto.

Every family household with children at the School will receive a calendar in time for the start of the new term and can see, at a glance, the many events that make up a busy timetable for each month.

The calendar was launched last week at an informal gather of sponsors and those who put the project together.

Headteacher, Carole Anderson, welcomed guests, in particular the representatives of all the local businesses who made possible the production of the calendar. Mrs Anderson said: "Each company has generously sponsored a page and, in doing so, has not only shown exceptional support for the school, but has also helped to create a product that would be a useful communications tool alongside the showcasing of our young people's extraordinary talents.

"The last two years have seen the development of prospectuses and displays whose quality is a true reflection of the high standards we are striving to achieve.

"Our new calendar is part of an ongoing programme publicising the great work of dedicated staff and enthusiastic students who are taking this School to unbridled success and making us one of the foremost state schools in Wales.

"We look forward to a continuing dialogue with our community to help us both celebrate and communicate."

The companies supporting the school calendar are: Waitrose Monmouth, Redcliffe Contract Catering Limited, E Turner & Sons. ATC (Monmouthshire) Ltd., Konica Minolta Business solutions (Wales) Ltd., Beaver Framing Ltd., Phillips Transport Ltd., PC & E Garwood Optometrists and Platform One Design Consultancy.
