Crows waiting for win

Cwmbran RFC are still looking for their first win of the season after losing away to Blaina 20-12.

The Crows front row of Smithy, Copeman and Hopkins did well against a big Blaina pack, as did Barnes and Craddock in the line-out.

Two converted tries were scored by the home side on the half hour mark, the second of which came after slack defensive play by Cwmbran.

The visitors raised their game in the second half and full-back Carl Moore scored a brilliant solo try.

James Didcote kicked the extras before injuries to himself and centre Mike Vann weakened the backline.

The Crows kept going and prop Ian Hayes crashed over for a try. However two home penalties secured the win for Blaina.

Cwmbran Athletic ran in ten tries as they demolished Nanymoel Seconds 64-7.

Try scorers were Jarryd Hinnem (3), Dave Suanders (2), Martin Ellis (2), Ben Richardson, John Tunley and Jim Evans. Saunders converted seven of the tries.

Cwmbran Youth played good rugby in their 38-19 defeat at Penarth on Saturday. Their try scorers were Tom Lloyd, Chris Redges and Shaun Watkins.
