Absent players missed

Gwent County Third Division: Caldicot Castle 4 New Inn 2

New Inn travelled to Caldicot looking to record their third successive victory, but struggled with a number of absentees.

After a terrible challenge on Ian Evans, Carl Brown delivered a free-kick from distance to put New Inn ahead, bending it into the top right hand corner.

New Inn were unfortunate not to go 2-0 up when Carl Brown shaved the woodwork from 30 yards. But New Inn lost their shape and were soon 2-1 behind, the first, a scrappy goal which bobbled about in the visitors' area before falling to a Caldicot striker.

The second came after a defensive mix-up which led to a near post finish.

After the interval, inspirational Carl Brown came off and the home side piled on the pressure.

They were rewarded with a header from close range and a fourth coming soon after. New Inn struggled to get back into the game, but Anthony Davies headed in a deserved consolation goal from a Peter Page corner.

New Inn look to get back to winning ways in the short trip to Sebastopol on Saturday.
