Shock defeat stuns Panteg

Gwent County Division One: RTB Ebbw Vale 2 Panteg 1

PANTEG manager Paul Thomas has urged his side to get back into the saddle after Saturday's defeat against bottom club RTB Ebbw Vale.

Thomas admitted his men may have been too confident going into the match against winless RTB Ebbw Vale who came from a goal behind to win 2-1.

Winger Ben Gifford gave Panteg a first half lead, but Vale struck back with two quick goals before frustrating their opponents for the rest of the game.

"We just couldn't break them down," said Thomas.

"After beating Trinant 5-1 we were looking to do a lot better than this. Maybe we were too confident going into the match. We certainly didn't play like we know we can.

"It's important we don't dwell on this results. We've just got to put it behind us and get back to playing how we know we can."

Saturday's home game against Coed Eva kicks off at 3pm.
