Council faces protest No 2

PROTESTERS campaigning for the future of Trevethin school demonstrated outside the Civic Centre, Pontypool, yesterday.

Education chiefs are encountering strong opposition to their plans to close Trevethin school and send its pupils to neighbouring schools.

As chants of 'save our school' from the 60-strong crowd drifted up to councillors gathering for their meeting, protester Arthur Attwood said: "We hope they are listening this time. They haven't in the past."

Mr Attwood, who has had three children at the school, said: "The feeling is getting stronger all the time."

This demonstration follows last month's huge march through the streets of Pontypool.
