RACE AFC lost their first Gwent County league game since March 2003 on Saturday when they lost 4-2 to Christchurch/Hamdden on Saturday.
Race knew the amazing unbeaten run would have to end some time and they lost it at home on Saturday in the first half.
The visitors dominated the first 45 minutes and went into the break 4-0 up. Race stepped up a gear in the second half and created numerous chances but many of them went unconverted.
There was a constant supply from Drinkwater and Price that should have resulted in more goals but the only goals both came from Martin Bewick.
Manager Mark Williams said: "The players haven't tasted defeat for such a long time in the league and over the past few weeks we haven't played the prettiest football I would have liked but we've been getting results which is what football is all about."
Team: T Watkins, C Hodge, J Proudman, D Goodchild, M Drinkwater, L Price, C Jones, T Williams, S Berry, M Bewick, M Murphy. Subs: Matthew Williams, P Cook, Mark Williams.
Race welcome Pentwynmawr Athletic to the College Ground on Saturday for their next Gwent County League Division Two clash while Gwent Central League side Race 2nd XI play away to Sebastopol B.
