Rogerstone buoyant over comfortable win

HIGH-FLYING Rogerstone arrived at Woodfield Road in buoyant mood after their bright start to the season and they went away with a 5-2 win over New Inn in Gwent County Division Three.

Early in the first half New Inn's Mark Jackson got in a number of crosses, one of which resulted in an own goal.

Rogerstone then took control of the game for the remainder of the half. Three quick goals soon came for the visitors and New Inn went into the interval trailing 3-1.

In the second half, New Inn piled on the pressure and were rewarded with a goal from captain Wayne Jepson.

After using their three subs, New Inn were down to nine men after two injuries and Rogerstone took advantage to score another two goals. New Inn hope to bounce back in a fortnight's time when they host Ebbw Vale Town.
