NEW Inn potter David Donovan, right, is hoping a change of clubs can inspire his rise back onto the pro-snooker circuit.
The Torfaen ace had a tough season last term struggling to find the form that promised so much earlier in his career. But a switch in practice venues to former World Championship semi-finalist Darren Morgan's Cross Keys club has seen a rejuvenated Donovan look increasingly sharp with the cue and hungry to make his mark in world snooker.
The former Redz Snooker Club player is already showing signs of things to come potting his way to the final of a recent Welsh Billiards and Snooker Association ranking final.
Donovan showed his cool to win a tense semi-final against Bridgend's Aled Brothers. What was more pleasing than the 3-2 victory was Donovan's new-found maturity after the 19-year-old edged home in a tense session of mind games.
In the final against Garin Pantel he lost 3-0 clearly tired after the previous semi-final battle.
A similar run in Donovan's next tournament later this month could book him a place in the World Amateur Championships where victory would seal his place back on the pro-circuit.
