Gwernyfed RFC 46 Garndiffaith RFC 7
ON Saturday Garndiffaith travelled to Gwernyfed RFC. A fortnight of inactivity certainly showed with the garne failing to get out of first gear for long periods and the home side took advantage, racing away to a 36-0 lead in the first 35 minutes. Garndiffaith then scored through outside half C Sulway, Sulway converting to finish the half 36-7.
The second period started more or less like the first with the Garn defending for long periods. The home side scored a further two tries to come out worthy winners.
Coaches A Herbert and D Rudge no doubt will address this poor show prior to the visit of reformed Abertill- ery/BG on Saturday.
Gwernyfed Athletic 12 v Garndiffaith Athletic 36
In a total reversal of the first team's performance the Garn Athletic took to the field to record their third win in as many weeks. The Garn took control of this match from the start with scrum half Gareth Marks and pivot Andrew Gunter calling the shots and playing the game in the home side's half in a totally dominant display. The forwards working tirelessly.
From 1 to 15 the Garn were outstanding but worthy of a special mention are 18-year- olds R Smith, J Courtney and D Morton.
