FAW Trophy Round Three. Cwmffrwdoer Sports 1 Tillery FC 4.
Welsh League Division Two Tillery FC halted an impressive cup run by the home side with some clinical finishing
Tillery raced into a 3-0 half-time lead but Cwmffrw-doer didn't make the visitors job easy as they shared the possession for 30 minutes matching them in every department until Tillery carved out an opening to deftly beat Sam Morris with a neat finish, scoring a further two goals before the interval.
In the second half Cwmffrwdoer took the initiative from the whistle and deservedly pulled a goal back when David Jenkins and Andrew Davies linked up to put Kristian Howells in space to score with an unstoppable left-footed volley.
The home side continued to pressurise the visitors defence who held firm clearing good efforts from Mark Gunter and Matthew Jackson who in the 80th minute hit a shot that the keeper could only parry into the feet of Gunter who's shot was pushed around the corner by the visitors defender.
The referee pointed to the penalty spot and then reversed the decision giving the 'Doer a corner, Tillery cleared the ball deep into the 'Doer's half creating a defensive rise up allowing Tillery to make the score 4-1 which flattered the visitors whose finishing was the difference between two sides.
Saturday October 23 and Cwmffrwdoer are away to Cefn Fforest and will be looking for the double over their hosts who they beat 3-2 at home. The Gwent Central side were away to Goytre and came away with a 1-0 win to move into second place in the table.
David Greenhalgh got the goal after 20 minutes and had to rely on an outstanding defensive display for most of the game as Goytre strived hard to breach the visitors defence.
New keeper Karl Rudakow, making his debut, saved a penalty in the 75th minute and in the 90th minute secured the three points with an outstanding save at full stretch to deny Goytre a deserved point.
Saturday October 23 they are home to Panteg 3pm.
The Under 18's beat Cwmbran Celtic 3-0 at home on Sunday 17 October.
