Too little, too late

Gwent County Division Three FC Dugout 2 New Inn 0

New Inn travelled to bottom-of-the-league FC Dugout with six changes to the side which beat Ebbw Vale 5-2 in their previous outing.

In the first half, New Inn failed to impose themselves on the hosts and in the second half, FC Dugout came out more determined and piled pressure on the New Inn goal - only good defending by John Watkins and 'keeper Rob Arnold kept them at bay.

New Inn soon found themselves trailing after a goal-line clearance which deflected off a Dugout striker's head into the net.

Dugout then scored a second which effectively won the game.

New Inn finally stepped up a gear in the final ten minutes and were camped in the Dugout half. Wayne Jepson was prominent in most of the moves, but New Inn failed to convert any of their chances.

They will look to bounce back with a win away to Pentwynmawr in the Gwent Amateur Cup.

A depleted second team earned a point with a 1-1 draw against Pandy, Dean Jones scoring.
