Leaders stage a second-half rally

AROUND half the scheduled fixtures were postponed due to waterlogged grounds.

Division One leaders Crickhowell visited Cwmffrwdoer and found themselves 3-2 down at half time, but turned the game around in the second half and took maximum points, winning 5-4.

The match produced two hat-tricks - from Matthew Robinson for Cwmffrwdoer and Matthew Stevens for Crickhowell. The other goal scorers were Ryan Waite for Cwmffrwdoer and Graham Mason and James Webb for Crickhowell, who lead Govilon by five points, with Cwmffrwdoer fourth. Man of the match for Cwmffrwdoer was Matthew Robinson and for Crickhowell was Owain Jones.

Govilon move up from fifth to the second following their 4-2 home win over visitors Blaenavon Blues. Govilon led 3-0 at half time. Luke Ewers put Govilon ahead with a goal in the fifth minute, Dean Morgan made it 2-0 when he scored in the tenth minute and Gavin Ewers scored on the half -our. Two minutes into the second half and Allan Scammell pulled a goal back for the Blues.

Within a minute Luke Edwards scored his second goal of the match and Govilon's fourth. Marc Browning pulled another goal back for the Blues in the 70th minute. Blaenavon Blues are 12th. Man of the match for Govilon was Luke Edwards and for Blaenavon Blues Allan Scammell.

Tranch visited Gilwern & Dist and led 4-2 at half time but after 90 minutes the sides finished 5-5. Goal scorers for Gilwern & Dist were Adam Carrington (2), Graham Rees (2) and a penalty by Lee Williams. For Tranch, John Aherne, Chris Watkins and Andrew Hayes. Matthew Williams was man of the match for Gilwern & Dist and Andrew Hayes for Tranch. Gilwern & Dist are third and Tranch sixth.

Usk Town got back to winning ways, 2-1 away to Clydach Wasps. The sides were level at half time 1-1. Nicky Brown put the Wasps in front with a goal score in the opening five minutes but Lee Watkins equalised after 24 minutes. Lee Watkins scored the winner in the 70th minute. Clydach Wasps are 11th and Usk tenth.

Prescoed lead Division Two following their 4-4 home draw with Pontypool Town B. Goal scorers for Prescoed were Grant Watkins (2), David West and Lee Cullen. Goal scorers for Pontypool Town B were Sean Kearns, Shaun James (2) and Phil Rogers.

Usk Town B made it a club winning double on the day by winning 2-1 away to Crickhowell B. Chris Lusted scored Crickhowell B's goal and Steve Wade scored twice for Usk Town B. Man of the match for Crickhowell B was Steve Hendrich and for Usk Town B was Steve Wade.

Gilwern B gave an excellent performance to beat Mardy B 5-0 away. Goal scorers for Gilwern B were Chris Rees (2), Robby Warner (2) and Steve Woods. Man of the match for Mardy B was Leighton Brown and for Gilwern B was Chris Rees.

New Inn and Pandy shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Justin Osbourne put Pandy into a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute but Dean Jones put New Inn on level terms in the 75th minute. Barry Evans was man of the match for New Inn and Justin Osbourne for Pandy.

Fairfield ran out 5-4 winners over PILCS. Man of the match John Jenkins scored four times for of Fairfield, with Daniel Groves netting their other goal.
