New Panteg at the double

NEW PANTEG under-14s entertained Berry Hill in the mud and rain on Sunday.

Berry Hill started the brighter and pressed the Panteg line for about ten minutes. But a breakaway try from Nathan settled the nerves and although the rest of the first half was to and fro, Panteg scored another try with Jordan AJ powering over.

In the second half, the Panteg pack took control and soon the superb Jake Priddle drove over. Further tries came from Nathan, centre Stephan Hale and winger Sam Seabourne to seal a comfortable victory.

l New Panteg under-11s made the trek up to Berry Hill looking to repeat last season's victory against their English opponents.

From the kick off, Panteg took control, with forwards Josh Jefferies, Nathan Day, Leighton Tolley, Cameron Miller and Joe Taylor all making big hits and driving there bigger opponents back. Centres Scott Coles and Haydn Simons both crossed for early tries, with wingers Daniel James and Zachery Takel both going over to make the half time score 28-0.

The second half saw Panteg continue to impress, with utility back Wesley Evans being denied just inches from the try line, only for captain Josh Jefferies, to pick up and dive over. Further tries by scrum half Conor Imms (2) and Takel completed the rout. Outside half Lewis Bury, who came off injured at the start of the second half, kicked four from four conversions, while Hadyn Simons, who took over the kicking duties, also had a 100 per cent record.

Final score: New Panteg 56-0 Berry Hill.
